Senator Lisa Murkowski, Republican from Alaska, has spent the last few years being a thorn in the side of the GOP.
As a result, many pundits have speculated that she would not vote to confirm Amy Coney Barrett in the Senate vote this week. However, Murkowski put those rumors to rest.
“I will be a yes,” said Murkowski in a floor speech. “I have no doubt about her intellect. I have no doubt about Judge Barrett’s judicial temperament. I have no doubt about her capability to do the job — and to do it well.”
Although Murkowski will oppose a procedural vote, she says she does not want to hold that against Barrett.
“I have concluded that she is the sort of person we want on the Supreme Court,” said Murkowski.
