Jimmy Carter hospitalized after fall at home
Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has been taken to the hospital after suffering a fall at his Georgia home, the Carter Center has confirmed.
Carter, 95, is the oldest living president in American history. He is known for his affable personality and dedication to his wife, Rosalynn. The two have been married for nearly three-quarters of a century.
This is the third time Carter has fallen in recent months. He fell just this past spring, which resulted in having hip replacement surgery. And then again earlier this month he fell. He required stitches, but was seen the very next day in Tennessee, helping with a Habitat for Humanity build.
Carter’s spokesperson said that this time, he’s in the hospital with a minor fracture and expects to continue his recovery at home.
Carter, who was defeated by Ronald Reagan in a landslide election in 1980, is a Democrat. He’s more liberal than most Americans. But he has had an incredible contribution during his retirement, and the work he does for Habitat for Humanity is legendary.
It’s always sad when something like this happens, but doubly so when the person is someone who just wants to give their time, energy, and remaining years on Earth to help people.
Please say a prayer for Jimmy Carter and his family today.
