President Donald Trump has recently rebuffed ideas that he and the top infectious disease doctor in the land, Dr. Anthony Fauci, are on bad terms. Fauci himself has backed up Trump’s reports of their working relationship.
When it comes to a possible Fauci firing, National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director Francis Collins said “Nobody has asked me to do that, and I find that concept unimaginable.” Collins then even said that Fauci’s boss is his wife. “I am amused that everybody’s calling me Dr. Fauci’s boss because his real boss is his wife, Christine Grady. She might have something to say about that.”
Of course, Trump could fire Fauci from the Coronavirus task force, but Collins was referring to Dr. Fauci’s role at NIH.
Peter Navarro caused heads to turn about Fauci’s future claiming that Fauci had been wrong about “almost everything.” Both Fauci and Trump rejected that language.
“I have a very good relationship with Dr. Fauci,” Trump said.
