I’m no fan of Bill Maher but even a blind squirrel gets a nut once in a while.
Maher, the host of HBO’s ‘Real Time’, said he was against the Twitter ban of President Donald Trump. So credit goes where credit is due: Good for you, Bill.
Even his reasoning was correct. Maher admitted he’s bothered when “anyone, anywhere decides what speech is allowed and what isn’t,” and that “It seems like these things become, that’s the one true opinion in the liberal bubble.” He’s spot on.
Maher is not a Trump fan at all and he let it be known, but still did not support the silencing of Trump’s voice.
Maher said, “I’m a free speech person. I mean, f— Trump. But when someone, anyone, anywhere decides what speech is allowed and what isn’t, I don’t know.”
This is how diverse speech is supposed to work.
We don’t silence our opposition. We win with better ideas.
