Sarah Sanders apologizes for insensitive Biden tweet
Twitter has become the favorite platform of pundits and politicians to snipe at each other in realtime, but former White House Press Secretary found herself in hot water after firing off a snide tweet just a little too quickly.
Sanders was ripped for posting an insensitive tweet about presidential candidate Joe Biden, and she just shocked her supporters Thursday by deciding to issue a complete retraction and apology for the statement.
The former Trump official and current Fox News personality took to the social media platform on Thursday during the Democratic debate to poke fun a Biden’s performance.
Sanders said In the since-deleted tweet, ““I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I hhhave absolutely no idea what Biden is talking about.”
She received immediate pushback from many on the platform. She attempted to explain the statement with a follow-up that has also been deleted, stating that she was not “trying to make fun of anyone with a speech impediment,” and that she was “simply pointing out I can’t follow much of anything Biden is talking about.”
Biden actually responded to the exchange and informed Sanders that he had “worked my whole life to overcome a stutter And it’s my great honor to mentor kids who have experienced the same. It’s called empathy. Look it up.”
Sanders immediately issued an apology to the former Vice President in which she stated that she was not aware of his past struggles with the speech impediment and wrote, “I apologize and should have made my point respectfully.”
