Poll finds that majority of Americans agree Pelosi must advance articles of impeachment
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is attempting to control the Senate’s impeachment process by withholding the articles of impeachment until Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) bows to her wishes.
That plan is backfiring in a major way. A Harvard CAPS/Harris survey just revealed that Nancy Pelosi is ruining her own credibility with the American people by obstructing a constitutional process.
The poll, the results of which were released exclusively to The Hill, revealed that a stunning 58 percent of Americans believe that Nancy Pelosi needs to let go of the articles so the Senate can move forward.
Conducted between December 27th and 29th, the results of the survey speak loud and clear: The American people, regardless of where they stand on impeachment, do not view Pelosi’s antics in a favorable light.
Polling Director Mark Penn remarked that “It’s clear from the polling that impeachment gridlock won’t sit well with the voters. Win or lose they want it to move forward and overwhelmingly think [former President] Clinton rules should apply.”
It doesn’t help that Pelosi’s strategy isn’t working anyway. McConnell said on Friday that “we are content to continue the ordinary business of the Senate while House Democrats continue to flounder.”
