Poll: 59% of US adults believe Trump’s Ukraine call was not illegal or wrong
Despite what Democrats want you do believe, a majority of the American people actually believe that Donald Trump didn’t do anything illegal during his conversation with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to a new poll by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs, most respondents thought that Trump’s call to Zelensky was neither illegal nor wrong.
To break it down, 29% of respondents thought that Trump’s interaction with Zelensky was “unethical, but not illegal,” 30% of respondents thought that Trump did nothing wrong at all, and only 38% said that Trump’s actions amounted to “something illegal.”
That means that 59% of American adults think that Donald Trump either did not do anything unethical or at the very least did not commit an actual crime.
To further break down the responses, the poll predictably found that 69% of respondents identified as Democrats thought that Trump’s actions were illegal, and most Republicans (8%) did not. Only 29% of independent voters agreed with Democrats that Trump did something illegal.
On the flipside, a staggering 69% of respondents believe that it was inappropriate for Hunter Biden “to have a role on the board of a Ukrainian energy company while his father was vice president.”
