Ocasio-Cortez accepted campaign donations from billionaire Tom Steyer in 2018

Freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has found herself in the middle of yet another controversy.

This time, her relentless bashing of the wealthy has come back to bite her, as it was just discovered that she accepted thousands in campaign donations from none other than vilified billionaire Tom Steyer in 2018.

This fatal mistake came to light after Ocasio-Cortez spent an evening stumping for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders by bashing billionaires in politics, such as current 2020 candidate Tom Steyer himself. South Bend mayor Pete Buttigieg has also recently been under attack for participating in a “wine cave fundraiser” attended by wealthy Democrat donors.

She stated, “For anyone who accuses us for instituting purity tests — it’s called having values. It’s called giving a damn. It’s called having standards for your conduct to not be funded by billionaires but to be funded by the people.”

However, according to OpenSecrets.com, Ocasio-Cortez had no problem accepting $2,700 from Democrat mega-donor Tom Steyer to boost her fledgling campaign in 2018. So much for having “standards.”

Just to be clear, now that Ocasio-Cortez is safely elected, the wealthy are the enemy again. In fact, almost immediately after clinching her spot in the House, she as right back at it again, stating that “a system that allows billionaires to exist” is immoral.

Democrat candidates Tom Steyer and former NYC major Micahel Bloomberg have drawn the particular ire of Sanders and his millennial hype-person Ocasio-Cortez due to their billionaire status and their exorbitant TV and radio campaign ad budgets.
