Leaked intelligence documents reveal that the Chinese Communist Party engaged in an extensive cover-up operation in order to deceive the world about the novel coronavirus.
The Five Eyes — an intelligence alliance formed by Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States — produced a report detailing the effort the CCP put into suppressing the truth about the origins and nature of SARS-CoV-2.
The report was leaked to Australia’s Saturday Telegraph. It contains evidence that the CCP censored any reference to the disease caused by the outbreak of the virus before much to the world was even aware of the outbreak. Terms such as “Wuhan Unknown Pneumonia”, “Wuhan Seafood Market”, and “SARS variation” were all censored as early as December 31.
In the first week of January, officials within the Chinese government closed down and disinfected the Wuhan wet market thought to be ground zero of the outbreak and ordered virology labs to stop testing for the virus as well as destroying any samples of the virus within their facilities.
The intelligence report also excoriated the CCP and the World Health Organization for denying the possibility of human-to-human transmission of the virus. “Despite evidence of human-human transmission from early December, PRC [People’s Republic of China] authorities deny it until January 20th,” the report read.
“The World Health Organization does the same. Yet officials in Taiwan raised concerns as early as December 31st, as did experts in Hong Kong on January 4th.”
Additionally, intelligence operatives found that the Wuhan Institute of Virology, also thought to be a possible origin site of the virus, was experimenting on coronavirus strains that had a 96% genetic match for SARS-CoV-2.
China continues to be the subject of intense scrutiny about the handling of the virus outbreak early on. The Trump administration has hinted that there may be consequences to the CCP’s secretive and unethical approach to the outbreak that has now infected millions worldwide and claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.
