The radically progressive representative from Minnesota is fuming at some recent pardons by President Donald Trump.
“In 2007, four Blackwater contractors opened fire in a crowded intersection in Baghdad, murdering 14 Iraqi civilians,” said Omar. “This week, Donald Trump granted them unconditional pardons. This is a disgrace to our country and to the rule of law.”
The men charged originally defended themselves initially saying they were ambushed and were returning fire. Prosecutors disagreed.
According to Fox News, “A White House statement announcing the president’s Dec. 22 pardons said the decision had widespread public support, adding the men have a ‘long history of service to the Nation.'”
