Fox News just confirmed on Friday that Sean Hannity has secured an interview with President Trump during the pregame show ahead of Super Bowl LIV on February 2nd.
Hannity revealed that topics he plans to cover in the interview include the Senate impeachment trial, the U.S. economy, and the killing of Iranian terror leader Qassem Soleimani.
Trump sat down with CBS’s Margaret Brennan for a similar interview in 2019 after blowing off NBC in 2018. The pre-super bowl presidential interview has been a tradition since then-President George W. Bush was interviewed by CBS’s Jim Nantz in 2004.
The Hill reports that “The network that carries the Super Bowl traditionally airs interviews with the sitting president. Rights to the game work on a rotating basis between CBS, NBC and Fox.”
Hannity is one of Trump’s biggest supporters at Fox, and was a natural choice to take on the interview this time around. Hannity said of his plans for the interview, “I want to make sure I put myself in the position of somebody at home, hanging out with friends and waiting for the game to start.”
“It’s a nice, fun American day. What do you do on Super Bowl Sunday? I imagine you’re with friends and family, and you are probably grilling, making chicken wings. You’re making steaks maybe grilling a little fish, smoking some barbecue. But there are important issues in the news.”
