Franklin Graham: Supreme Court Just Destroyed Religious Freedom

In a massively controversial decision, the Supreme Court of the United States decided sexual orientation and gender identity are protected classes. It is against the law for employers to fire employees for reasons that are “protected.”

Some cheered. But not every one is happy about it. Many on the right saw it as a devastating loss in the culture war going on in our nation.

Franklin Graham, outspoken conservative pastor and son of evangelist Billy Graham, believes the decision destroys religious freedom in America.

“Today the U.S. Supreme Court enacted a new law that adds sexual orientation and gender identity to the 1964 Civil Rights Act as ‘protected classes,’ said Graham on Facebook.

Graham continued, “As Justice Alito has pointed out, the majority went too far—he called it a “brazen abuse of our authority.” The Supreme Court exists to interpret the law, not to make new laws—making laws is the job of our Representatives in Congress, elected by the people. I believe this decision erodes religious freedoms across this country.”
