A former Clinton strategist just came forward to throw in his two cents about the wild speculation surrounding a possible Hillary 2020 campaign.
The former Clinton insider, Mark Penn, confessed that he thinks that Hillary Clinton may be spurred on by Michael Bloomberg’s recent announcement of his candidacy.
“There’s still a couple of days here,” he said, “I don’t know whether [Clinton will] look at the Michael Bloomberg thing and say, ‘the field’s too crowded now. I missed my opportunity,’ or the opposite”
“‘Wow the field’s weak, I could come in. I could get 165,000 donors, I’m tied with [Joe] Biden in some of these early states…’ There’s still a political logic there for her,”
He indicated that Clinton may also notice and take advantage of current frontrunner Joe Biden’s “weakness” and commented on the possibility of Hillary filling a more moderate slot, as most candidates are “too far to the left.”
Rumors have swirled for weeks that Hillary Clinton is considering launching a campaign, as she has hinted that she’s ready for a rematch and outright said that she would enter the race if she were sure she would win.
