New York Democrats are in shock after a resignation announcement.
According to Fox News, “A former top aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who reportedly called county executives around the state, inquiring about their “loyalty” to the embattled Democrat, has resigned.”
The New York Times originally reported on the the departure of Larry Schwartz. Schwartz, a public transit board member became known as Cuomo’s volunteer “vaccine czar” for overseeing the state’s COVID-19 testing and vaccine rollout.
It is not the first resignation from the circle close to Cuomo. Fox News reports that other recent departures include Max Orenstein, Laura Edidin, Jack Sterne, Christopher O’Brien, Caitlin Girouard, Eric Hammond, Will Burns, Kumiki Gibson and Gareth Rhodes.
The House of cards appears to be tumbling and Cuomo’s political legacy hangs in the balance.
