In an explosive Fox News appearance on Saturday, Donald Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani went after Joe Biden, saying that the former Vice President should be prosecuted for bribery in connection with the Ukraine scandal.
He cited Biden’s own claims at a 2018 Council on Foreign Relations event that “If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.” The prosecutor in question is Viktor Shokin, who was at the time probing Hunter Biden’s role at Burisma, Ukraine’s largest private gas company.
Biden himself claimed that he told the Ukrainian President that if Shokin wasn’t fired, he would personally withhold the $1 billion loan guarantee he had previously dangled in front of the president.
“Here is what Joe Biden says he did. He offered him a $1 billion loan guarantee, he threatened him with a $1 billion loan guarantee, and in return for that, so that’s part one of bribery,” Giuliani said. “Part two is, he got the president of the Ukraine to fire the prosecutor.”
Democrats leading the impeachment charge have shifted the goalposts for impeachment from “quid pro quo” to “bribery,” in a desperate attempt to incriminate Trump and protect Biden. Ironically, that strategy as backfired.
Giuliani pointed out that Biden “wants you to believe he didn’t know about his son’s business in the Ukraine — that can be disproven 10 ways … That’s called a false exculpatory statement. If Joe Biden is not prosecuted for these crimes, then nobody in America should ever be prosecuted for bribery.”
