Riding high off of a spectacular June jobs report, President Donald Trump took a shot at his 2020 opponent on Thursday, implying that it would take someone as incompetent as Joe Biden to kill the booming American economy.
“In the second quarter, the Dow Jones increased 18%,” Trump said at a press briefing, according to Fox News.
“It’s the best in 33 years,” he added.
But then Trump lowered the boom:
The only thing that can kill it is a bad president or president that wants to raise taxes. You want to raise taxes? …Your 401(k)s will drop down to nothing and your stock market will drop down to nothing. This is not just luck what’s happening. This is a lot of talent.
And Trump’s not wrong.
Biden has already promised to undo much of Trump’s economic work. “I’m going to get rid of the bulk of Trump’s $2 trillion tax cut,” the former vice president said at a recent fundraiser, according to Fox. “And a lot of you may not like that, but I’m going to close loopholes like capital gains.”
The Democrat’s plan sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. But not on Trump’s watch.
