Top Democrat Leaders Tell Joe Biden Not To Back Down From Future Debates

Some liberal pundits are trying to convince Joe Biden to stay out of future debate rings with President Donald Trump after the first debate of 2020 was widely panned as less than a positive for both candidates.

“This is a colossal waste of the American people’s time,” MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough said in a tweet during Tuesday night’s debate, according to Fox News. “If they are not going to cut his mic so we can have an exchange of ideas, then Biden should not attend any more debates.”

But top Democrat leaders are encouraging Biden to stay the course. “Democratic lawmakers say the stark differences on the debate stage between the two candidates will only help Biden’s campaign,” Fox reported.

The outcome of Tuesday’s debate has the organization that sets the rules questioning how future debates should be held. “Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues,” the Commission on Presidential Debates said Wednesday, according to Fox.
