Ted Cruz Steps Down From SCOTUS Consideration

President Donald Trump recently published a list of 20 new names he’d consider nominating if he gets the chance to put another justice on the Supreme Court bench. But it seems not everyone is excited to be on the president’s radar.

When Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo asked Sen. Ted Cruz if he was interested in the Supreme Court, the Texas Republican publicly said it wasn’t the job for him.

“You know, I don’t,” Cruz told the Fox News host, according to Breitbart. “It is deeply honoring. It’s humbling to be included in the list. I’m grateful that the president has that confidence in me. But it’s not the desire of my heart. I want to be in the political fight. I want to be fighting to nominate and confirm three, four, five principled constitutionalist justices. But that’s not where I want to serve. I want to stay fighting right where I am in the U.S. Senate.

As of this writing, President Donald Trump has not responded to Cruz’s comments.
