Key Senators Announce Support For McConnell’s Plan, Dems Now Blocked
So far, the Republicans in the Senate have been successful at blocking every effort the Democrats have made to advance President Donald Trump’s impeachment.
And it doesn’t look like that’s about to change any time soon.
The recent announcement from Sens. Susan Collins (ME) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) that they will support Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s plan for the impeachment trial now solidifies that the GOP has sufficient votes to block the Democrats’ demand for witnesses.
McConnell had previously announced his intention to run the Senate trial without witnesses — exactly like President Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial. But despite the clear precedent, the left wing, anti-Trump machine was livid over a development that they might be prevented from parading their propaganda in front of the Senate and American people.
It should be no surprise that when it comes to the radical left, what is good for the goose is not at all good for the gander.
The politics of hypocrisy and double standards are why Nancy Pelosi can, with a straight face, demand that Trump’s trial have completely different rules than Clinton’s.
