New Ruling Opens Up Pardon Possibilities For Trump
The left tried to play dirty politics with President Trump’s former campaign manager, Paul Manafort, but a New York judge just shut down their plan.
After Manafort was found guilty in federal court of certain financial crimes, some leftist officials from New York charged him with state crimes.
Their nefarious plan was most likely to prevent Trump from using his federal pardon powers to the benefit of Manafort.
Fortunately for Manafort and for the rule of law, the state judge saw right through their scheme. He found that the state charges substantially overlapped the federal charges and dismissed the state case against Manafort.
This leaves open the possibility that Trump, who has said he “feels badly” about Manafort’s situation, could use his executive authority to pardon his former campaign adviser.
While Trump-hating Democrats are probably furious at the development, it was cheered by others. George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley was pleased with the ruling, writing:
“I am relieved that the courts showed more judgment and respect for individual rights than James and others who wanted to lower protections to score political points in prosecuting a Trump associate.”
Every good patriot will see the truth. A win for the rule of law is a win for America. If you object to that, you are part of the problem.
