Although Deborah Birx is a top adviser on the White House coronavirus task force, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims she has “no confidence” in the doctor.
“I think the president is spreading disinformation about the virus and she’s his appointee. So I don’t have confidence there, no,” Pelosi said of Birx in a Sunday interview, according to Fox News.
Pelosi didn’t give a reason for claiming that Birx is not trustworthy other than her association with President Donald Trump — who, of course, Nancy Pelosi hates.
But this isn’t the first time Pelosi has been critical of Birx. It was also recently reported that Pelosi called Birx “the worst” in a private meeting.
The White House, for its part, isn’t happy about Pelosi’s reckless attacks on its task force members. “It is deeply irresponsible of Speaker Pelosi to repeatedly try to undermine [and] create public distrust in Dr. Birx, the top public health professional on the coronavirus task force,” White House director of strategic communications Alyssa Farah said Sunday, according to Fox. “It’s also just wrong. Period. Hard stop.”
