Judge Strikes Down Mississippi Mayor’s Firearm Ban

As it turns out, the Constitution applies in Mississippi towns — whether the Democrat mayor likes it or not.

The mayor of Jackson, Mississippi attempted to ban the open carry of firearms in the city, but it did not go well for him.

The U.S. District Judge Daniel Jordan issued an order that, according to Breitbart, “prevents the city of Jackson, Mississippi from attempting to ban the open carry of firearms so long as such carry is legal at the state level.”

In April, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba, a Democrat, attempted to ban open carry of firearms amid the growing civil tensions.

The judge’s order reverses the ban via a consent decree in which Mayor Lumumba and the city council agree to not attempt to restrict firearm laws in the future.
