Joe Biden can’t do it. He just can’t.
After claiming he wants to move the nation toward healing and unity, Biden is proving he can’t keep his word if keeping it means holding off the rabid, anti-Trump faction of his own party. He is incapable of holding the line.
Previously, Biden hinted that he might oppose the trial but ultimately would let Congress decide.
Now, Biden has reversed course by giving a full-throated defense of moving forward with Trump’s impeachment trial saying “it has to happen.”
But many Republicans are condemning the impeachment as a political sham.
I object to this unconstitutional sham of an “impeachment” trial and I will force a vote on whether the Senate can hold a trial of a private citizen.

On Special Report, @SenTomCotton says a Senate impeachment trial of a private citizen is beyond the Constitution’s authority.

Biden said he would lead America forward, but if this is any indication, he is only leading us back into the worst version of ourselves.
