Rep. Mo Brooks: ‘Quid Pro Quo’ Isn’t a Scandal
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) just flipped the entire impeachment narrative on its head. He says the entire crux of the impeachment narrative misses the point.
What Trump did with Ukraine isn’t a scandal; what Trump did is how foreign policy should be done, at a minimum.
Democrats accuse Trump of quid pro quo – of asking for something in exchange for something else. Think: I scratch your back, you scratch mine.
To Democrats, this is an impeachable offense. But there’s just one small problem:
There’s absolutely no legitimate reason Trump’s behavior is even a scandal.
So what if Trump was withholding aid until Ukraine investigated corruption there involving other powerful Americans? That’s a good thing, according to Mo Brooks.
Speaking on a local radio station, Rep. Brooks said:
“Let me be real clear: In every instance in which the United States government gives another country something, whether it be military supply or it be food, there better dadgum well be a quid pro quo.”
Yes, the Biden family is a political rival of Trump. But that doesn’t mean they should be allowed to engage in international corruption without any kind of investigation. That’s absurd.
Being an enemy of Trump is NOT a get-out-of-jail card.
Rep. Mo makes a good point. But don’t expect the Democrats to go along with it.
The Democrats’ goal is to undermine Trump, regardless of whether he does is right or wrong.
