Donald Trump said he was innocent of the charges levied against him by the Democrat-controlled House of Representatives.
It appears he was absolutely correct.
When it comes to the charge that Trump’s language made him criminally liable for insurrection, George Washington University Law School Professor Jonathan Turley said “it does not meet, what I see, is the standard under Brandenburg if you’re looking at just the speech.”
Turley also blasted the Democrats’ fear-mongering tactic of saying Trump will “get away” with something. Turley said nothing stops Trump from being charged, and convicted of a crime, as long as the conduct meets the criminal elements of an actual crime.
In this present case though, Turley was adamant that what Trump said “does not meet the standard.”
