Fox News reports that real estate heir Robert Durst has been found guilty of killing Susan Berman, his long-time friend and confidante who had planned to tell police that she gave a false alibi for Durst following the disappearance of his wife Kathie in 1982.
Berman was shot point-blank in 2000, but the trial for her murder didn’t start until March 2020. It was postponed due to COVID-19 and resumed in May.
Durst’s attorneys argued that he was too old and feeble to survive prison, but prosecutors pointed out that his alleged victims did not get to live their lives at all.
The case against Durst was revived after Durst participated in a 2015 HBO documentary The Jinx. According to Fox, he said on a hot mic during filming: “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
Durst claims he was misunderstood and didn’t really say anything about killing anyone.
