The lawlessness at the nation’s Capitol is directly related to challenges to the legitimacy of the November presidential election, according to Former Attorney General Bill Barr.
“Regardless of which side of the political spectrum is involved, we just cannot tolerate violence interfering with the processes of government,” said Barr during a recent interview. “I think that when you start suppressing free speech, when people lose confidence in the media, and also when they lose faith in the integrity of elections – you are going to have some people resort to violence.”
Barr previously called Trump’s comments on January 6th a “betrayal of his office and supporters” and alleged Trump’s “orchestrating a mob to pressure Congress is inexcusable.”
Barr left his post in December and called claims of widespread voter fraud “bullshit.”
