Canada’s prissy prime minister Justin Trudeau put on his argyle patterned socks and then officially banned a long list of “assault weapons”.
Canada doesn’t include gun ownership in its constitution so Trudeau’s order is legal.
Even so, gun ownership is fairly popular in the country, especially in rural parts of the country.
Prime Minister Trudeau admitted that “most gun owners are law-abiding citizens,” but argued that “assault-weapons serve no beneficial purpose.”
“These weapons were designed for one purpose and one purpose only — only to kill the largest amount of people in the shortest amount of time,” Trudeau said in a press conference. “You don’t need an AR-15 to bring down a deer.”
