The White House was just notified about a possible Senate trial. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is up to his old tricks again, and he has help from House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
“Speaker Pelosi invited President Trump to come testify, and I think her invitation is correct,” Schumer said. “If Donald Trump doesn’t agree with what he’s hearing … he should come to the committee and testify under oath.”
Schumer continued by using what’s called the ‘nothing to hide’ fallacy, in which he inferred that since Trump and his closest White House associates won’t testify, he must be covering up unethical or illegal activity.
“You gotta ask the question, what is he hiding?” asked Schumer. “Why is he afraid to confront what these people have said?” But this line of reasoning is political propaganda at its most banal.
Trump knows that testimony before a Democrat-controlled committee — such as the House Intelligence Committee run by Pelosi’s puppet, Rep. Adam Schiff — would be a trap.
Why would he walk into a room full of career politicians who want to play games for the TV cameras? Trump knows better and would rather spend his time being president of the United States.
