President Trump has pushed through the firings of several employees in top-level government positions. Establishment politicians are furious, but Americans understand exactly what he just did.
After several setbacks with undependable personnel, Trump is cleaning house at the Department of Homeland Security in order to implement his commonsense border policies to curb illegal immigration, human trafficking, and the influx of drugs.
Following the departure of DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen, the undersecretary of management and second in line to lead, Claire Grady, has resigned — clearing the path for Trump to nominate a new DHS head who will implement his plans.
Trump and his aides have been actively worked to shake up DHS by requesting that key officials step down. With Nielsen and Grady out, Kevin McAleenan, the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, will step into the role of acting secretary.
Placing McAleenan in the position temporarily will give Trump time to find a permanent replacement to lead DHS. Even more changes could be on the horizon as well, including the ousting of Lee Cissna, director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
It is clear that Trump is rightly fed up with the delays on securing our southern border, and he’s prepared to make as many changes as needed at DHS to deliver for the American people — regardless of what the talking heads at CNN and MSNBC say.
