Harvard law professor and legal commentator Alan Dershowitz has offered his take on what the much-anticipated Mueller report will contain – and his prediction isn’t going to make Democrats or Republicans happy.
Dershowitz stated in a Sunday interview:
“I think the report is going to be devastating to the president and we know the president’s team is already working on a response. The critical questions are largely political — when I say devastating, I mean it’s going to paint a picture that’s going to be politically very devastating.
I still don’t think it’s going to make a criminal case because collusion is not criminal.”
Dershowitz is a brilliant legal mind, and he’s probably right here. The Mueller investigation could very well hurt Trump politically, but ultimately, it’ll be just another politicized event that will be swiftly forgotten.
It’s not surprising that the report won’t lead to legal charges. After all, the Mueller investigation was never about the law – it was always about politics.
