In a hypothetical Republican primary poll leading up to the 2022 election, Texas Governor Greg Abbot, a Republican, holds a surprisingly large lead over Allen West.
In the poll between the two, 73% of voters said they would prefer Abbott, while only 17% said that West was their preferred man. The remaining ten percent was undecided.
Abbott became governor in 2014 and is currently seeking a third turn. Despite being endorsed by Donald Trump already, five Republicans have filed papers to run against him.
Actor Matthew Mcconaughey has also gossiped about wanting to get involved, but has not said anything official as of yet.
Other than Abbott’s big lead, the most surprising part of the survey was just how wild most Texans still are for Donald Trump. 78% of Texas Republicans would choose Trump as their president again in 2024.
