Tim Morrison, the departing Senior Director of European and Russian Affairs under President Donald Trump, testified before Congress last week as the House was voting on impeachment rules, but he didn’t help Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA)’s case against the president.
Morrison listened in on the phone call and was in charge of coordinating aid to Ukraine. “I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed,” Morrison said in an opening statement released to the press.
Democrats ignored the released statement and claimed Morrison’s testimony proved some of their allegations against Trump, specifically that the president threatened to withhold Ukraine’s aid unless they investigated Biden, a possible political opponent who was the 2020 Democrat presidential frontrunner at the time of the call.
The publicly released transcript of the call does not say that aid would be withheld, and Ukrainian officials said they were not aware of aid being withheld when the phone call happened in July.
But Democrats are so desperate to take Trump down before he gets re-elected that they are just plain making stuff up now.
