The Ukrainian president has dropped a bombshell admission, and his version of the story just got some major back up. The Democrats’ impeachment witch-hunt against Trump could be derailed now.
During his congressional testimony, the U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, Bill Taylor, said that “he has no reason to doubt” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s insistence that pressure and blackmail were not involved.
Ironically, Taylor has been on the other end this whole time — working with the Democrats to impeach Trump. But even he can’t bring himself to question the Ukrainian president’s word that Trump did not blackmail him.
This admission puts the entire impeachment push into even less stable territory. Taylor has been caught contradicting himself and has essentially corroborated Zelensky’s version of the events.
It is no wonder that anti-Trump Democrats are now trying to move their effort beyond the phone call between Trump and Zelensky. There simply isn’t anything there, and they know it.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi should have gone with her original plan and refused to pursue impeachment, but she allowed the Ocasio-Cortez wing of the party to call the shots. Now they all look foolish.
