It’s official. Jussie Smollett has convicted of staging a hate crime.
The decision comes nearly three years after Smollett claimed that he was assaulted by Trump-loving bigots who tied a noose on him and doused him in bleach.
Shortly after the attacks happened, America learned that the attackers were not white Trump supporters, but black men hired by Jussie Smollett to beat him up in order to advance his acting career.
The 12 jurors in Chicago criminal court found Jussie Smollett guilty on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for filing a false police report.
The decision comes after testimony from 13 witnesses and over nine hours of jury deliberation.
The jury agreed with the prosecutors’ claims that Smollett paid the two men $3,500 to stage the attack so that Jussie could get media attention.
Smollett faces up to three years in jail for his crimes and will be back in court on January 27 to learn his eventual sentencing date.
