President Trump just made the call, and the media is screaming hysterically. They are freaking out about the president’s decision, but his supporters love it.
It is being reported that Trump may look to end birthright citizenship in the United States. “We’re looking at that very seriously, birthright citizenship,” he said recently. Some are saying this plan will require revisiting the 14th Amendment.
“All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside,” the amendment reads.
Back in 2018, Trump made his case clear. He said, “We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States for 85 years with all of those benefits. It’s ridiculous.”
Whether he moves forward with an executive order or proposing a constitutional amendment isn’t yet known — there’s a lot to navigate legally and Trump will take his time. Already, however, Democrats are whining about it.
Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA), who is seeking the Democratic presidential nomination, said that Trump should “consider reading the Constitution.” That’s rich coming from a liberal Democrat from California.
