President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence just made a stunning decision about the Supreme Court. It’s happening right now.
“The Supreme Court of the United States must clarify that district judges can decide no more than the cases before them,” said Pence, challenging the notion that district judges can order injunctions at a national level.
By issuing nationwide halts to policies implemented by the Trump Administration, district judges are “effectively preventing the duly elected president of the United States from fulfilling what he believes is a constitutional duty,” Pence said.
He also exposed the wrongheaded concept that “a Supreme Court justice has to convince four of their colleagues to uphold an injunction, but a single district court judge can issue one.”
The administration is looking for ways to get this matter before the Supreme Court in hopes that the power of district judges will be put in check, thereby confining them to their actual jurisdiction.
We have a major problem with liberal judges acting well beyond the constitutional scope of their role, especially at the district level. This move by Trump and Pence to weed out the activists couldn’t have come at a better time.
