Speculation that President Donald Trump will pardon Paul Manafort if he’s convicted is running rampant, and President Trump isn’t doing anything to tame those rumors.
In fact, he’s adding to them.
When asked about the possibility in an interview with a New York Post reporter, Trump replied: “It was never discussed, but I wouldn’t take it off the table. Why would I take it off the table?”
He has a point there. Robert Mueller is using his position to bully and intimidate witnesses and defendants alike. Trump would be wise to reserve his power to reverse Mueller’s worst abuses.
