Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on Friday that he can’t guarantee that more photos of him in blackface or brownface won’t surface beyond the three instances he has already described.
Trudeau apologized again on Thursday and said he “should have known better,” but he didn’t.
“The fact is, I didn’t understand how hurtful this is to people who live with discrimination every single day,” Trudeau said in a statement. “I have always said that I come from a place of privilege, but I now need to acknowledge that that comes with a massive blind spot.”
Trudeau has acknowledged that he performed at a talent show, attended a costume party, and appeared in another video wearing dark makeup on his face.
The controversy comes as Trudeau has just announced his bid for re-election. Some of his constituents have called on him to resign because of the revelations.
