Chelsea Wolfe isn’t going to let his male genitalia stop him from pursuing his goal:
“My goal is to win the Olympics so I can burn a US flag on the podium.”
And he’s going to compete against women in order to do it. Well, maybe.
Despite having the strength and speed advantage over women that comes with being born a male, Wolfe was not able to qualify outright, and will only compete if the two actual females that beat him out for a starting spot are unable to perform.
At least the Olympics Committee is being consistent, completely disregarding the work that biological females have put in to weightlifting as well. Laurel Hubbard is a man from New Zealand entered in the women’s division, but he’s not a reserve. It’s practically guaranteed that we’ll see the first ever male winning gold in the female division, as Hubbard is the current WOMEN’S world-record holder and obvious favorite in the event.
