A community college professor who posted violent sentiments in an Antifa Facebook group has decided to sue the college after resigning his position there. Jeff Klinzmann now says Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa forced him to resign after removing him from his classroom.
The college said it has a letter saying that Klinzmann resigned voluntarily and that it removed him from the classroom for safety reasons after getting thousands of complaints and threats to burn the school down.
Kirkwood president Lori Sundberg said if she loses the legal case, she still feels she did the right thing for the school and its students.
“At the end of the day for me, if I’m found legally wrong on this, I can live with that. But if I make a wrong decision regarding the safety of the students, and he’s harmed, our students are harmed, or other faculty are harmed, I can’t live with that,” she said.
Klimzmann said he wanted to “clock” President Donald Trump with a bat and had earlier said he wanted to kill Christians and “bury them deep in the ground.” There is no evidence Klinzmann shared any similar sentiments in his classes or with students.
