Samaniego-Villa was ultimately charged in federal court with possession of the machine gun, along with other charges. But his case is just the tip of the iceberg.
Samaniego-Villa is believed to be part of a Mexican-based drug operation also involving his brother Sergio.
Sergio was deported in 2012 while facing drug charges, but illegally re-entered the U.S. again and now faces new charges after the FBI allegedly bought drugs from him.
