No one is immune from making mistakes, including the president of the United States. This one has sent social media into a certified frenzy.
President Trump took to Twitter and attacked two Fox News pundits — John Roberts and Gillian Turner — for their criticism of his wall negotiations, but he accidentally identified a private citizen in the process by misspelling “Gillian” and tagging the wrong person. Realizing the error, he removed the tweet and rewrote it.
Trump’s original tweet said, “Never thought I’d say this but I think @johnrobertsFox and @JillianTurner @FoxNews have even less understanding of the Wall negotiations than the folks at FAKE NEWS CNN & NBC! Look to final results! Don’t know how my poll numbers are so good, especially up 19% with Hispanics?”
Jillian Turner is a resident Weed, California, a small town of fewer than 3,000 people. A look at her Twitter feed shows that she’s taking this incident in stride, choosing to use the unexpected attention to highlight her community. It’s great to see Turner’s light-hearted response to the national spotlight, but it would be wise of Trump to be more careful in the future, even though he’s right about the one-sidedness of the negotiations thus far.
