Now that the federal witch hunt against President Trump has been utterly discredited, former South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy is speaking out about where the real Russian collusion took place — Hillary Clinton’s campaign.
“There is only one campaign that took negative information from Russia. There is only one campaign that actually paid for that information,” Gowdy said.
“Fusion GPS and the Clinton campaign was actually spending money to dig up Russian dirt on Trump.”
Gowdy was referencing the Steele dossier, the report that jump started the rumor mill about an illegal conspiracy between Russia and the Trump campaign.
Ironically, the report itself turned out to be a product of Russian interference in the election.
That conclusion is based on the fact that the Clinton campaign hired opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which then hired Christopher Steele, a former British MI6 operative with ties to Russian government officials, to compile the dossier. Without those officials’ involvement, there would presumably have been no dossier.
