Vice President Mike Pence responded to disturbing evidence the FBI may have tried to use his own chief of staff to spy on President Trump’s transition team in 2016.
An email uncovered by Senate Republicans revealed that FBI lovers Peter Strzok and Lisa Page seemed to be plotting, for undisclosed reasons, to infiltrate Trump’s inner circle with a counter intelligence agent.
While the email does not directly name the spy, it refers to “Katie’s husband,” which some have speculated refers to Pence’s former chief of staff, Josh Pitcock.
While, Pitcock insisted there was “no infiltration through me or my wife.” Pence expressed outrage at the FBI’s alleged activity.
“I was deeply offended to learn that two disgraced FBI agents considered infiltrating our transition team…. This is an outrage and only underscores why we need to get to the bottom of how this investigation started in the first place,” Pence said
Asked about the alleged spying, Trump said “[Strzok and Page] are trying to infiltrate the administration really it’s a coup, it’s spying, it’s everything you can imagine.”
