A high-ranking Republican just abruptly quit and made a massive career move. He’s gone forever.
Rep. Andy McKean, Iowa’s longest-serving Republican in the state legislature, has betrayed his own party and President Trump by becoming a Democrat.
McKean announced that the GOP’s embrace of Trump is one of the reasons for his switch. “I want no part of it,” he said, speaking about the president.
He continued, “Unacceptable behavior should be called out for what it is, and Americans of all parties should insist on something far better in the leader of their country and the free world.”
McKean also said that he’s become “increasingly uncomfortable with the stance of my party on the vast majority of high profile issues and often sympathetic with concerns raised by the minority caucus.”
Perhaps McKean has always been a Democrat and he’s just now admitting it to himself. In that case, Trump and the GOP can happily wave goodbye to him.
