Resigning from public office may have spared former Illinois state Rep. Nick Sauer from the full brunt of his humiliation, but it hasn’t protected him from a grand jury indictment on a dozen felony charges.
His alleged crime? Revenge porn.
The first-term lawmaker is accused of creating fake social media accounts in order to leak nude photos of two women without their consent. In light of today’s #MeToo climate and widespread concerns about online privacy, that’s a crime most judges and juries will be eager to punish to the full extent of the law.
Ironically, Sauer was a member of an Illinois House anti-sexual harassment task force.
