A high-ranking Democrat just resigned abruptly from his seat. He’s gone forever and the Democratic Party is stunned. They can’t believe it.
Rep. Charles Blake, who served as House minority leader in the GOP-dominated Arkansas House of Representatives, wrote in an email that he did “not make this decision lightly” and serving fulfilled “a life long dream.”
It wasn’t immediately known who would assume Rep. Blake’s role as Democratic leader in the Arkansas House, however, his resignation was yet another blow to the Democrats in Trump-friendly Arkansas.
Arkansas Democratic Party Chairman Michael Gray tried to look on the positive side with an obligatory statement about Blake’s resignation from an elected, influential position.
Gray said, “Minority Leader Charles Blake has made Arkansas better for all of us.” He said that “Blake took on the hardest fights and delivered” over the course of his three terms.
“I consider Charles a close friend and his positive demeanor and influence will be missed,” Gray concluded, after recognizing some of Blake’s liberal work.
