A Democrat candidate for Mississippi’s state House killed himself Tuesday after shooting his wife at her workplace, the Daily Mail reported. The two were in the middle of getting a divorce.
Carl Robinson shot Latoya Thompson, his estranged wife, at Williams Medical Clinic in Potts Camp, Mississippi, where she was a receptionist. Thompson had a pulse in the emergency helicopter but died on the way to the hospital.
The couple had at least one child together. Witnesses saw Robinson pacing outside Thompson’s office before the murder-suicide took place.
No one else at the workplace was hurt, police said.
Robinson was an Army veteran and worked on workplace safety issues. He was also CEO at the Commission on Aging in Oxford for the past three years.
