President Donald Trump commented on Jane Fonda’s recent arrests at climate change protests during a political rally in Louisiana Wednesday, saying, “Nothing changes.”
“They arrested Jane Fonda. Nothing changes,” Trump said. “I remember 30-40 years ago … She always has the handcuffs on, oh man, she’s waving to everybody with the handcuffs.”
Fonda was arrested four times at recent protests in Washington, D.C. She described the arrests as a necessary risk during an appearance on The View. “We have to up the ante and engage in civil disobedience, which means risking getting arrested,” she said.
“The conditions are not great, frankly, and you have to sleep on a metal slab,” she said in another interview. “And I’m almost 82- years-old, and I hurt.”
Maybe she just shouldn’t break the law.
